For the past 20 years, millions of dollars have been raised in pennies and other spare change by more than 10 million elementary, middle and high school students throughout the country.
From the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Website:
"The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to the funding of cutting edge treatments for blood cancers. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
LLS funds research around the world, creating opportunities for blood cancer cures and therapies, and provides free information and support services. In fact, of the 50 new cancer drugs approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the last decade, almost half (22) were approved as treatments for blood cancer patients. Many of these were advanced with LLS support. And, blood cancer treatment innovations are helping patients with other cancers too."
